You will be fine, trust me

Sometimes things happen in life and they are out of your control, actually most things in life.
It doesn't make you a weak or bad person if you feel like you can't deal with them. It makes you human.
I wish more people would stop trying to control everything around them and focus on the lesson that can be learned from whatever it is that they are going through.

You will be okay. You are loved. Believe this and you can do anything.

Birthday Mania

When did a birthday party become a birthday production? Every year, I feel the need to "out do" myself. I am not even sure why or how it began!
So when DID birthday parties for kids become so lavished? Do we blame the phenomena of pinterest or blogging?  As a kid,  having a cake, balloons and streamers was the epitome of parties. But party throwing is much more than that these days.

Last year, we had a Pirate theme birthday party for my son, complete with a Pirate ship prop I made. Part of me felt crazy, as I painted the finishing touches but I couldn't help myself. Earlier in the year, we had a Jedi training party and of course as I dressed as Princess Leia and the kids had Jedi robes with light sabers.

Every year, me and my little guys talk about ideas for parties and I do my best to have an awesome party for them. But will they Love me less, will I be less of a mom, NO!!

I guess part of it is getting caught up in the excitement and feeling like a kid again. I love to see the joy on their faces the day of the party and hearing them say, "This was the best party ever!" And with those words, like the pain of child birth, all the agony and torture I go through to get things together is melted away.

There are less than 25 days until my son's 6th birthday!
So let the crazy  begin!!

Mateo ' s Pirate Party!

Ricky's Jedi Party!!

Family date night!

Times can be tough and it may seem like it won't get better but it will. Keep positive and never let that keep you from spending time with your loved ones. After all, I don't remember what we couldn't do as a child. But I do remember many weekends playing board games with my dad, brother and stepmom.  We had so much fun and it help us to bond as a family with my stepmom. Those were great memories!
Movie night at home with the family is a great inexpensive way to bond and keep those stir crazy kids occupied. You do not have to buy a movie. You can enjoy one you already have and make a special treat to make the night feel more festive. Be excited about family date night because it is contagious!
Last night we watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2.  It was such a fun movie.

We even watched again today to find the hidden sashsquashes. We imagined which foodidble we have as a pet. Since my son is learning to read and write sentences, I decided for us to draw and write which were our favorites and which foodidble we would create. So much fun from one movie!

So what do you do for an inexpensive family night?

New year, new me or should I say we...

Every year, we make resolutions to only break them. I have been trying my best to stick to mine. Last year, I was hoping to be healthier and happier. Well, it took a while but I nailed it. I dropped 20 pounds and have been a happier person but I realized I was way too vague. I have the same goals for the New year but a little more specific this time.
So hear I go, announcing them to cyberspace,  so I must be committed,  right?
I am taking a big step and am a bit nervous but it is for the better. I decided to try to rid my family of GMO foods. I have been educating myself and what I am learning is frightening. However,  I feel that we are addicted to all the wrong foods and need to be set free! I will be meeting with a local farmer and am super excited and love the idea of buying foods fresh and locally.
I will take more time for myself and not a selfish way but in a "mommy needs a time out to love you without feeling the need to yell at you" kind of way. I plan to mediate to accomplish this.
Lastly, I plan to enroll in to graduate school. I am scared excited at the same time and hope I can pull off being a full time mom , wife and having a full time job at the same time.
There are a lot of changes for the New year and i am so excited! Hope I don't get discouraged.
Happy New Year's!! All the best to you and yours!!

Santa, I know him!!

This weekend my church hosted "Breakfast with Santa." This is the first year my little guy really understands the concept of Santa. It was priceless to see the magic of Santa happen for him. It was one of the sweetest moments to witness. He went from super excited to star struck and right before Santa had to leave there was such a sweet moment between Him and Santa. Oh, to be a kid again!!

Good bye iPhone

So, I had to change phones and after having my iPhone for a good bit I switched to the Samsung Galaxy S4. I have to admit I am sort of in love with my new phone. There are so many more options and the camera is pretty Awesome! !
I have automatic backup and the screen is awesomely bigger.
Not sure what happened to my iPhone but I lost a lot of pictures and information, partly due to my own fault for not backing them up. But with Google plus there are no worries cause they automatically backup, plus I use my sim card to store my pictures!  Enough with the boring talk, bottom line I love my phone! !
